Getting to "Boca de Tomatlan", should not have to be an ordeal. It's only 10 miles (16 kms.) outside of Centro Puerto Vallarta... along the coastal route #200 south, towards Barra de Navidad.
There are several means of transportation to Boca, but perhaps the easiest and least expensive... is to board the green colored "Mismaloya-Boca" bound bus, stationed off the corner of Basilio-Badillo & Constitucion (Centro Vallarta) which runs every 15 minutes, from 6 a.m. 'til1 11 p.m. daily - and simply enjoy the coastal view. Boca de Tomatlan is the last stop on the bus route and is about a 25 minute ride from downtown. Cost is 4.5 pesos or about 45 U.S.D. cents.
There's public bus service, from the airport, on the roadway just outside the terminal, to downtown Vallarta.
The buses are blue colored and the cost is 4 pesos per person. Travel time to downtown is approx 20-30 minutes.
Taxi services are available at fixed fairs, depending on your point of departure... and depending on the category of taxi... yellow or white. White taxies from the airport to Boca should cost $300 pesos, 1-3 persons... yellow taxies, from the street just outside the airport, should cost $250 pesos. It's always advisable to negotiate and/or agree to the price before accepting a ride and know that a gratuity is expected by the driver. It's about a 45 minute ride to Boca from the airport.
